The Apothecary Artist

Welcome!

My name is Chelsea, and I've loved drawing and creating since I could hold a crayon. I also grew up in the pharmacy environment, as my family owned and operated a pharmacy in the Belleville area that was established in 1835. It was a true family pharmacy - the Geen family owned and operated this pharmacy for 150 years, a history we are really proud of. I'm actually the fifth generation to be in the pharmacy field! I pursued the health sciences in university, thinking I would go into medicine - but discovered, in fact, that I did love pharmacy. I graduated as a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2018, and have practiced as a pharmacist since then. I started Studio Chelsea as a small business in 2023 and decided pursue my dream of being an artist.  Searching for a way to combine my interest in vintage pharmacy and the history of medicine with my creative side, I came up with The Apothecary Artist collection - botanical illustrations of plants used in medicine. As a medical writer, I also decided to include information cards with each print, so I spend time researching and writing these brief summaries to go with each fine art print. The combination makes a truly beautiful, keepsake gift!
