ECO-FRIENDLY STUDIO

Sustainably-focused Studio Practices

Botanical line drawing of a large flower

I knew when I started Studio Chelsea that I wanted to be as eco-friendly as possible. Minimizing our impact on the environment is so important to me. As an early stage small business, I decided I still wanted to do everything I can to think about sustainability, and it will only get better as the studio grows!

Here are the ways I've implemented eco-friendly studio practices:

  • Recyclable, tab-locking rigid mailers avoid plastic waste & tape from self-seal mailers
(for packaging art prints up to 8x10)

  • Water-activated gummed paper tape for sealing packages that is 100% recyclable, biodegradable and repulpable

  • Recyclable backing boards

  • Minimal packaging materials and brand inserts (while still making it a beautiful unboxing experience!)

  • Giclee printer for superior print quality and longevity (pigment based ink will last 100s of years)

  • Professional printer with larger ink wells, reducing frequency of cartridge replacements

  • In-studio fine art printer for smaller prints, allowing orders to be printed on demand which reduces waste

  • In-studio printing on archival fine art paper composed of 100% fiber made from cotton linters. These linters are considered "recovered fibers" by the EPA - reclaiming linters puts to use what would have become waste

  • Print shop printing on demand for larger print sizes, reducing excess and waste

  • Carbon-neutral shipping across North America
